I have 2 wood burners fitted and both have caps. Definitely needed, we find the birds do actually sit on the top of the flue, presumably to warm their feet!! I belong to a couple of wood burner groups & people have posted showing the birds that have come down the flue & it’s a real pain getting them out! The scaffolding will be a H&S issues, can a cherry picker not be used instead? It’ll be heaps cheaper.
