You would need planning permission as it is changing the front elevation visible from the street. In terms of light, I’d say the glass would let more light in than the glass bricks. But the bricks would offer more privacy to the lobby area.

To maximise light I would also get rid of the small bits of brick wall between the lobby and the inside, and replace with all glass.
