    Looking for some advice please.

We have been told today that our extension will require a raft.

roughly how much more does this cost as opposed to normal footings?

That’s for a raft we did cost £1500 for the steel then there was £3600 of concrete went in (you need two pours for a raft)

Why do you need a raft? Have you got a geotechnical report or is there another reason?

Also, do you mean a ground bearing raft or a piled raft? The second will be considerably more expensive than people are telling you.

It cost me about 30% more to have an engineered raft, than a standard trench fill foundation.

We had trees and conifers nearby, so the Building Inspector made us go that way.
