Hi everyone! Our house is overrun with toys (and it’s only going to get worse!), so we’re thinking about converting half of our double garage into a playroom. At the same time, we’d like to extend our utility room so there’s enough space to hang washing up to dry. One concern I have is that the only way to access both rooms would be through the existing utility. I worry this might put off future buyers and make it feel like wasted space. I’m looking for ideas on how to make the layout more “seamless.” Ideally, I’d love to knock through from the hallway, but unfortunately, that’s not an option. Would it make sense to move the cloakroom, or has anyone tackled something similar? I have scribbled my ideas down many times but am stuck in a rut. Would love to hear your suggestions.

I propose that you block the back door up. Move the utility’s there and make a door into the garage.

Thats what I’d do if that were my house.

I’d divide the wall as shown, you’ve got plenty of space. You’ll need an escape window in the converted garage. Good luck.

It’s a good idea. I did mine last year as I wasnt using the double garage. It’s made a new room for the house. An office for me.
