The name on the application is not typically critical for the planning decision itself, as the application is tied to the property rather than the individual. However, contact your planning department if you can to confirm if this will be an issue. What I would hope is they just might just note the correction informally over the call and amend it there and then for you.
The simplest way to resolve this is to ask your architect to correct the mistake. Most LPAs allow minor corrections to applications without requiring a full re-submission, especially for typos or personal details. Your architect should be able to handle this quickly. I would just drop him/her and email and say please could you correct the spelling of my name on the planning application as follows. Thanks so much
Keep it short and sweet and let them fix it as it was their mistake.
One never knows if further down the line it may cause legal issues, but typically depends how much of an error they made too.
